28th Annual GMAA Kaynor's Sap Run

Summary: Fortunately the weather cooperated and we had great conditions: The frost was not out of the roads, so they were much smoother than usual. The snow was mostly melted and some strategic shoveling the weeks prior to the race and on race day enabled fairly normal use of the Sugar House area. 91 runners competed and including volunteers, there were 99 in the drawing for 30 prizes. There were no horses this year (I spoke with folks at the barn ahead of the race). Just a stray golden lab that had a penchant for donuts (stole them right out of people's hands!). Nathan Fields was the first one across the line (35:24), followed closely by Sam Davis (35:33) and Randy Sightler (35:45). Anne Treadwell won for the women in 41:55. She was followed in by Jessica Bolduc (42:28) and Cindy New (42:44). The only age group of the day was Cindy New's impressive 42:44, which trimmed more than 4 minutes of the mark that had stood for 18 years!
