Juniors racing Summer 2017 - Track and Field

Want to take your running to the next level? Want to join a competitive, performance oriented youth team. Try USA Track & Field Junior Olympics (USATF JO)!

GMAA invites cross country runners to join and represent our club at some exciting races this fall. We will be focusing on the USATF Cross Country Junior Olympic meets that will be hosted later in November, with a National meet being held in December.

Green Mountain Athletic Association (GMAA) is developing a USATF Juniors running program. This summer we will focus on running events only with Sprints, Middle Distance and Distance Running, up to 3000m. The New England Meet will take place Saturday, 6/17/2017. The season could last up to 6 weeks concluding with the USATF JO National Meet in Lawrence, Kansas for those that qualify.

USA Track & Field's Junior Olympic program brings top talent together through a series of meets. At the conclusion of the regular season with your middle school, the next level is the New England Association Meet in Fitchburg, MA. This meet will have the top athletes from Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Massachusetts coming together to compete with each other to advance to the Regional Meet. The Regional Meet brings in more selective athletes from a larger pool to compete and qualify for USA Track & Field Junior Olympic Nationals!

GMAA will be providing an opportunity to join, train and compete with a local team. There will be guidance and organization about how to enter and become a part of the JO program as well as USATF Certified coaching and organized practices to keep athletes in shape for the post season. The overall goal is to have a competitive team that develops youth team training/racing and expose them to Regional and National level competition.
